16 Awesome & Cheap Corn Remedies
Corns can be a pain in the… well… foot.
And know that if you have corns, it’s perfectly normal. Millions of people get it each year.
Basically, it happens when you have a constant pressure point on one part of your foot. This is a part of the foot you’re constantly stepping and pressing on as you walk. It’s just how you walk.
So, with time, it creates a patch of dead skin that goes deep and starts hurting and being a really annoying little life problem.
The cause can also be standing for too long, wearing the wrong footwear or walking barefoot, playing sports, hard labor etc.
So, if you have corns, let’s see what you can do at home to get rid of them...
Here are a couple basic first steps:
- Eliminate the source of pressure by buying better shoes with extra padding
- Get rid of shoes that are too tight, especially around toes, flip-flops…
- Wear socks made from a blend of polyester and cotton to reduce perspiration
- Eliminate the pressure point, irritation, and further growth by wearing a corn pad
- Corn pads should have salicylic acid which softens hard skin
- Trim toenails to prevent pressure
- Don’t try to cut the corn because it can cause infection
- Buy a pumice stone, it will become useful later
- Wash feet and hands with soap every evening
So, now that we have that out of the way, let’s see what we can use from nature and a little bit beyond to get rid of this problem on our own!
1. Pumice stone
Pumice stone is a must-have if you suffer from this problem. I mean, there are ways to get rid of corns without it, but it’s just a lot faster and easier to rub it with a pumice stone.
It helps to remove the dead skin of the corn which helps you get rid of the corn and heal faster.
But let’s see how we can combine pumice stone treatment with some other home remedies… for instance castor oil.
2. Castor oil
The skin on the corn needs to be softened before treatment with castor oil.
Castor oil does the trick here and it even makes the corn disappear after a short while and is one of the quickest ways to get rid of it. It has been used for hundreds of years as a remedy for corns.
Steps:
>Method 1<
- Dip feet in warm water for about 10 minutes to make the skin of the corn softer
- Rub the corn gently with a pumice stone for about 3-5 minutes
- Dry and put a cotton ball dipped in castor oil on the corn
- Tighten gently with tape and leave overnight
- Wear old socks so it’s not a shame if they get damaged by an oil leak
- Do for several nights (it can take up to 10 days) until the corn is gone
>Method 2<
- Rub the castor oil on the corn 3 times a day
- Do it for about 4 days when the corn should disappear
